Sutton SA

In an interesting departure for a Salvation Army Corps (Church), one of our neighbo(u)ring set-ups at Sutton Salvation Army Church are partnering with Fair Trade coffee house Tariro, who have installed one of their franchises inside the Army building as part of the overall refurbishment.

It will be really interesting to see how this pans out, but I - for one - admire their initiative.

Thanks for the heads-up on this. This is a truly forward-thinking and imaginative venture... one that hints at local involvement rather than territorial involvement.

Would be interested to know more... especially things like footfall and location [I don't know the area and it would add to the context].

Would also like to know if there is a Tariro / Army connection... and who approach who?

As an investigative [nosy] blogger... can you find answers to these questions for a follow up post?

Love to you and yours

Thomas

Thanks for the info on your blog John, we at Sutton think it's a great idea too and is just a small part of our mission to be the church in our community that God needs us to be.

Open day is 1st December for all to come and have a nose around the buildings and ask questions about what we are doing and why. Feel free to pop in for a chai tea latte.....or just a cappuccino (!) anytime from 10-2.

Thank you all guys for your positive encouragement! We are just so thrilled to be on a journey with this fab Salvation Army Church, people who have an intelligent, creative and passionate heart for God's story through The Salvation Army in this community. Its all high risk, adventure at times, but when was it ever meant to be cozy and comfortable? If you want to hear more about the TARIRO/SUTTONSA journey together, we are happy to share it with you - just call Richard and I, and we will talk it through - 0208 644 8335 - but just to say, it comes with all the SA blessings and permissions required! Warm regards, Caroline Mingay

Darrin:

It's reasonably unlikely we can make that date - Carolling like I mentioned on Facebook, then we're going to the Wedding at Croydon.

At some point in the future I'll defintely get over there.

Paul:

I'm sure they'll be delighted to see you - go along, and tell 'em Johnny Laird sent you! ;-)
